As a photographer, one of the best compliments that can be given, is the privilege to be asked back again after the wedding to photograph the family. I had been apart of Brodie & Trevor’s love story for about 2 years before their wedding day. From the moment we met, we just clicked. I was booked for their original wedding date, but they changed dates to have me as their wedding photographer. I cant express how humbling it is to have a couple move their wedding date for you.
Over that time I got a glimpse into their lives through our friendship on Facebook (not the stalker kind of course ;). While I don’t interact too much in the couple’s personal life, usually only when it’s wedding related, but it does help me get to know my couples over a period of time in their ordinary lives. This helps me get an insight into their lives, personality, likes/dislikes, the important people around them, and its helpful in how to tell their story through my camera.
For Brodie & Trevor, I began documenting their life stories with an engagement photography session, then Brodie surprised Trevor with a Valentines portrait photography session, Brodie secretly planned a boudoir/beauty portrait session to surprise Trevor with an album of beautiful photos of her on the morning of their wedding day, and then the wedding day itself.
Over this time I got to know Brodie & Trevor and they definitely had their life plan mapped out – get married, travel to Paris which they did for their honeymoon, then start their family. It’s all going to plan. Not long after the honeymoon I got the message from Brodie that they are pregnant and asked will I do their baby photos. Of course which I replied ‘you can’t do it without me’ or something along those lines.
As I said, it’s an honour and privilege to become a couple’s photographer through their life events. Now to be photographing Brodie & Trevor as expecting parents during their maternity photography session, made this a super special photoshoot for me.
A maternity session is a great way for expecting parents to connect with their unborn baby, as well as each other before their lives are changed forever. The woman’s body experiences so many changes during pregnancy, and the maternity portraits are an opportunity for mum-to-be to feel beautiful and embrace her belly.
Here is just a sneak peek from Brodie & Trevor’s maternity portrait photoshoot.
I can’t wait to meet baby Hooper next month.
The Forest Session.
The Beach Session.
Just as the sun was setting we reached the beach.
I adore the soft light just as the sun ducks below the horizon.
