A stylish Brisbane city wedding at
Latrobe Chapel Paddington & the Port Office Hotel Fix Restaurant
When the Aussies, Kiwis & Irish congregate you know it’s going to be one awesome bash. Throw in the wedding of two awesome people and it’s going to be one awesome wedding. Meet Tina & Daniel plus their families and friends, some who came from far and wide to be here to celebrate this long awaited special day.
Tina & Daniel met while Daniel was in Australia on holiday from Ireland. They hit it off and spent 2 weeks together. It must have been two amazing weeks because Daniel couldn’t live without Tina and was back 8 weeks later … and as they say the rest is history.
During groom prep all I could hear was the Irish accent – there was Daniel the groom, his dad, brother and new brother-in-law who had all flown out from Ireland to be here for Dan’s big day. There is just something about the Irish accent that just says have a jolly good old time. It was an overcast day but the one tree with bright orange leaves placed on the deck at the Hotel Chancellor in Spring Hill certainly brightened up the the space for the groom’s photos.
We were greeted at the bride’s house by this cheeky magpie sitting on the porch. I love walking in on a wedding day and having a bride that was so relaxed but this underlying excitement ready to burst, and that is how I found Tina when I arrived. Tina even listed as one of her top priorities for the wedding, was to be ready on time – she was ready 12 minutes early.
Tina is just one of those girls you would be friends with in no time at all. That is evident by the bond Tina has with her entire family. Again family flew in from overseas, but this time it was New Zealand. Talking to Tina’s mum, the part of New Zealand they are from sounds so beautiful – NZ is definitely on my wishlist for 2016 of places to finally getting around to visit.
Tina wore an elegant Anna Campbell wedding gown from Babushka Ballerina Bridal with the lovely Prue from Harpier on hair & makeup duties. The girls carried lovely bouquets of pastel apricot and mauve flowers plus some baby blue – not sure if that was her ‘something blue’ but a very pretty touch. The bouquets, buttonholes, corsages and florals were supplied by Main Event Weddings.
Tina & Daniel were married by Rachel Ross at Latrobe Wedding Chapel in Paddington. Tina walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. Tina tells me her favourite memory from the wedding day was seeing Daniel at the top of the aisle with a beaming smile.
We then made our way to the Botanical Gardens for the formal family portraits, which by the way aren’t so formal. Then of course the bridal party location photoshoot, one of my favourite parts of the day where I get to whiz the couple away for some alone time, all while snapping away to get those romantic portraits. By this stage I am realising I am really liking Tina, a bride that takes off her shoes when her feet are hurting and doesn’t mind getting her feet dirty, now that is my kind of bride/woman!
The newlyweds then celebrated at the Port Office Hotel Fix Restaurant with the highly entertaining band BenJam on entertainment for the evening. Tina & Daniel danced their first dance as newlyweds to I Won’t Give Up On US by Jason Mraz.
When asking Tina what advice would you give other bride or groom’s to-be she replied “I was taking care of everyone else prior to the wedding so was pretty stressed. Make everyone do things for you. It’s your day. DON’T HAVE PEOPLE OVER THE NIGHT BEFORE.“
Tina also added “Everyone we had for our wedding was amazing. From the photography to the band, celebrant, Main Events Wedding, hair & make up. Everyone was so nice, calm, made decisions when I couldn’t. The wedding day was amazing. Could not fault anything or anyone.“
“Deb is just great. Couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. She knew what to do and made great decisions when I couldn’t. She was there from the beginning to the end. Because Deb has been doing this for a long time she knew Prue who did our hair and makeup, Rachel our celebrant and BenJam our band. It was like having a friend at your wedding. Deb made everyone feel at ease and every one of our guests commented how friendly she is and how long she stayed with us. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Thanks Deb Boots!!!!”
