DE-ARN + DEAN
De-arn & Dean celebrated their wedding with over 90 of their closest family and friends in a rustic country style wedding at The Woolshed at Jondaryan, in a rural town near Dalby in the Toowoomba region of Queensland.
De-arn & Dean met through a mutual friend in 2009, little did either of them know that their families had known one another for many years.
The proposal: { in De-arn’s words }
“I came home one day from work and walked through the door to find flower petals, candles and a love note written in the kitchen which told me to go to the bathroom as there was a hot bath run for me. In the bathroom he had more petals and candles, a photo of us, an esky with wine and glasses, and he had decorated all the walls with a lace material – it looked beautiful. He then came in and hopped on one knee. I balled my eyes out.”
De-arn & Dean chose The Woolshed at Jondaryan for their wedding as the location is them in a nutshell. They didn’t want bling or over the top, they just wanted simple country style which is what they are. The whole venue just suited them perfectly. It was important to De-arn & Dean that their guests felt the love that those two share. By making sure the atmosphere of the day had a loving, close-knit feeling. One of the advantages of Jondaryan Woolshed is the property is complete with accommodation for the bridal party, with grassed areas or the barn for the ceremony and reception.
The ceremony was down by the creek as it offers wonderful camping and fishing, something De-arn & Dean love to do together and with their family and friends. De-arn walked down the aisle to “5 Rocks” by Busby Marou.
It was a family affair when it came to the DIY decorating. De-arn & Dean handmade all of the wreaths on the tables, the Mr & Mrs sign and seating plan. The jam and pickle jars were handmade by De-arn’s grandparents.
De-arn & Dean danced their first dance as newlyweds to “Horses” by Daryl Braithwaite.
De-arn & Dean spent their honeymoon in beautiful Hawaii; relaxing, snorkelling, wining and dining.
De-arn’s favourite memory from the day …
“Hearing Dean’s beautiful speech. It brought tears to my eyes.”
and the funniest moment of the day …
“I accidentally put Dean’s ring on the wrong hand oops … haha”
Advice for other Brides & Grooms …
“The day goes so fast so take your time to have a few moments during the day where you stop and really take it in. Try not to stress about the wedding day itself, even though it is hard. There will always be little things that go wrong on the day, but at the end of it all, all that matters is that you got to marry your best friend. Plus no one else usually picks up on the little mishaps that happen, because they don’t know any better, so don’t stress about them.”
