A traditional, elegant wedding at the Holy Spirit Church in New Farm
New Farm wedding photography
Sarah & Sasha planned a traditional and elegant wedding with the help of Kasey from Fashionable Society Events after an 8 year romance and Sasha proposing on Valentine’s Day 2015 at the top of Emu Mountain on the Sunshine Coast.
Sarah and her girlfriends returned to where Sarah & Sasha met 8 years before at the Emporium Hotel in Fortitude Valley to enjoy a High Tea for the hens party. While Sasha and the boys went shooting, go-karting and a football match followed by a fun night out.
Sasha and the groomsmen were getting ready at the Brisbane Meriton Hotel in the city, where I arrived to a deck of cards and chips on the table ready for a game of cards before we got down to the more serious business of groom portraits.
Sarah, her bridesmaids and parents got ready for the big day at The Moreton Club in New Farm, which was also the wedding reception venue for the evening’s celebrations. Sarah & Sasha chose The Moreton Club because of the lovely staff and beautiful aspect. The charming heritage listed sandstone house, has stunning views of the Brisbane River and city skyline.
Party games seemed to be a running theme. The girls were playing Ultimate Werewolf. To be honest, Id never heard of the game but thanks to my good friends Google and Wikipedia tell me Ultimate Werewolf is apparently a wildly popular game and “a party game that’s heavy on the psychological manipulation” – sounding interesting right! “The idea of the basic game is that roles are randomly (and secretly) distributed. Each “night,” when everyone closes their eyes, the werewolves wake up and pick a victim. During the “day,” all the players discuss and vote to lynch somebody, hoping to kill off a werewolf. The werewolves are hoping to finish off a certain number of victims, and the villagers are trying to rid the town of werewolves.” Totally not the game you’d be expecting a bride to play on her wedding day! but made for some fun wedding photos.
Sarah wore a beautiful Paddington Weddings/Bertossi Brides gown. Sarah’s something old was her own pearl earrings and her something borrowed was a pearl necklace. Sarah also was gifted by her grandmother’s cousin a lace handkerchief from France.
Sarah & Sasha were married at the Holy Spirit Church in New Farm in front of over 100 of their closest family and friends. Sarah arrived in a white vintage Jaguar from Kenz Classics and walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Sarah couldn’t stop grinning as she walked down the aisle.
Sarah & Sasha’s chose You Make Me Feel So Young by Frank Sinatra as their bridal waltz song. But the dancing didn’t stop there!
I love when a couple puts getting married as their top priority for when planning their wedding, followed by photography, good food and entertainment. Being a wedding photographer I have to love the fact that love and marriage, and wedding photos made Sarah & Sasha’s Top 2 Wedding Priorities and well who doesn’t like good food and music!
