HILLSTONE ST LUCIA BRISBANE WEDDING
Ashley + Rohan
Ashley & Rohan chose to get married at Hillstone St Lucia, one of Brisbane’s highly acclaimed wedding venues. A beautiful, intimate setting surrounded by trees, parklands and a golf course.
Ashley & Rohan had planned to have their ceremony in the Courtyard Garden. However the weather wasn’t having an outdoor ceremony bringing in a morning rain shower. Moving the ceremony to the enclosed verandah off the Rosewood Room. Luckily the rain cleared away for our afternoon photoshoot.

GROOM PREPARATION FOR THE WEDDING DAY
I met up with Rohan & the groomsmen at Hillstone St Lucia where we used the bar for some pre-ceremony photos.
Check out Rohan’s cool piggy cufflinks!! Handmade by his bride (aka wife).
For you Simpson fans, you might recognise the pig cufflinks from the ones

A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING AT HILLSTONE ST LUCIA
The ceremony was suppose to be in the garden courtyard, however due to rain, it was moved to the balcony off the reception room. This is a good chance to tell brides & grooms not to fret if you have rain or overcast weather on your wedding day. The clouds diffuse the sun creating this beautiful soft light. Overcast weather is a photographer’s dream weather conditions to shoot in! Just look at how beautiful the natural light is in these ceremony detail photos …
A WET WEATHER CEREMONY ON THE BALCONY AT HILLSTONE ST LUCIA IN BRISBANE
The wet weather certainly didn’t dampen Ashley or Rohan spirits.
Celebrant Anna Bauer from Celebrate with Anna was on hand with her pink flamingo pens to make the I-do’s official!
I always love photographing the congratulations photos following the ceremony. Coming out of this quiet, formal gathering into guests bursting with congratulations and big heartfelt hugs. It’s like an unspoken sign of ‘let’s get this party started’.
Family photos are important so there is always time allowed in the wedding day schedule for a group photo and the family photos following the ceremony. While I rarely share the family photos on the blog, in my attempts to keep the blogs shorter for faster loading and a more speedy viewing experience, the couple certainly receive family photos as part of their collection. Prior to the wedding day, I obtain a list from the couple of the family groups they want photos off, to ensure we don’t miss any of the important family photos required. If you wish to see the family photos, contact the couple for the link and password to their private gallery with the full wedding photo collection.
WEDDING PHOTOS AROUND MILTON TRAIN STATION
We then headed off for what is one of my favourite parts of the wedding day, the bridal party photos and couples portraits.
I was super excited about Rohan & Ashley’s bridal party photos. When we had discussed locations in the pre-wedding planning session, they had said they didn’t want to do the usual wander around the golf course or head to popular UQ for their photos. They wanted something a bit more quirky/urban. I did a location scout around the area to find a location that was achievable within a 10-15 minute drive from Hillstone. And what I found was Milton Train Station. I loved the light and shadows in the walkway tunnels, the graphic-painted wall on the station platform and a nearby laneway. Yes! an interesting and cool location all within walking distance of each other!
Now just to check with Ashley & Rohan – and they were as excited as I was about my ideas for their wedding photos.
We made it back to Hillstone just in time for a few more photos as the sun was setting.

Check out the Star Wars inspired bride & groom cake toppers (that aren’t cake toppers but I didn’t know what to call them) – Han Solo aka Ro-Han Solo and Princess Leia aka Ash-leia.
