In February & March 2015, I spent close to a month traveling through America.
My adventure started with a stopover in LA, and after spending a solid 36 hours awake fighting off the jetlag, I managed to see Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach.
Then a quick flight to San Francisco where I stayed in an AirBnB apartment for 3 nights with a Sydney couple who had been living there for 4 months. Lets just say I loved San Francisco and I could live there!
We then picked up an Escape Campervan for the road trip leg of the adventure. Heading for the Napa Valley and Sonoma, before then making our way to Yosemite National Park. After leaving California, we then travelled through the Sequoia National Park and Death Valley onto Las Vegas. We camped out in the van at various places along the way with the entire road trip taking 7 days.
We were in Las Vegas for the WPPI photography conference. Photography conferences are much as about the socialising as they are the learning – don’t I have the best job that mixes business and pleasure.
Then it was off to one of my favourite places in the world, New York City. After my trip to the USA in 2013 where I felt like a tourist, I decided this trip was more about getting the local experience. After all I had done the tourist attractions in 2013, I was left to be able to hang out in cafes and walk the streets like a local. I love NYC and I know it won’t be my last visit.
Enough with the words, being a photographer of course I can tell this story so much better through my pictures. I even made a book of it, enough pictures to make it a 3 volume set.
